SF Teachers

San Francisco school district officials say they're encouraging principals to enforce policies requiring educators to refrain from sharing their political opinions in the classroom.

Those policies have been on the books for years

But Frank Lara, vice president of the district's teacher's union... says that teachers need to be able to discuss social justice issues in class.

[[To see this pushback against the rights of educators, against the social progress made to educate our children about the realities of the history of this country and also about the realities of our diverse history, I think it should alarm everyone]]

School officials say the policy is meant to give students a harassment and bias free learning environment.
